Root Chakra
What is the Root Chakra?
The Root chakra is our base chakra also known as the Muladhara from the Sanskrit. It symbolises the foundation of the earth and supports our whole chakra system which is an earth element chakra. You will find this chakra situated at the bottom of your spine, this is the chakra that is associated with earthing and grounding. Grounding our root chakra connects us to mother earth, she feeds us, energises us and supports us. It allows us to attune our consciousness to our own body and become present. Our childhood symbolises the strength of our root chakra, it is influenced by our earliest relationship in life, if you have received unconditional love from someone you will have a strong root chakra and have a strong sense of survival.

Having too little or too much energy flow through these chakras can cause them to become unbalanced. Having a balanced root chakra will make you feel grounded, secure, have a general good health and wellbeing within, ambitious, your able to be your own person, trustworthy and sensual. Being grounded and balanced within your root chakra enables you to manifest abundance in the physical plane.

When the Root chakra is overactive, negativity can rise upon this. Symptoms such as egoistic, domineering, greed, anger and hatred. You may be addicted to wealth, materialism and focus a lot around genital and sexual emotions.

When the Root chakra is under-active, this may impact you in other ways. Symptoms appear such as lack of confidence, self destructive, not grounded, little interest in sex, insecurity, cant achieve manifestation or goals.

When a chakra is not balanced this may cause the physical body to react in many ways like alcohol, addictions, sex, depression, bladder, reproductive system, prostate and sexual disfunction.

The best way to balance your root chakra is to love yourself, your family and connect yourself to mother earth. You may use crystals, foods, oils, root chakra affirmations to help you along the way.
