Conducting a Reiki session for a young child is similar to treating an adult. Although, there are some distinguishing differences. The major difference is the time allotted to a younger Reiki recipient. A full session for a child will be brief in comparison to a Reiki session given to an adult. Whereas a Reiki session given to an adult normally lasts 60 to 90 minutes or even longer, a child will absorb Reiki so much faster.
And of course, a toddler's body is significantly smaller in comparison to an adult body. Because the practitioner will have less area to cover in their hand placements it only makes sense that the session will end sooner.
What is Reiki?
This is the question we get asked all the time. We are not surprised as not so long ago we too was quite ignorant of what Reiki is. We spend a lot of time explaining to our clients what Reiki is and hence the need to develop this website.
Rei-Ki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a system of natural healing involving the laying on of hands and is very likely to be thousands of years old. It is widely believed that the technique was first used by Tibetan Buddhist monks and was rediscovered in the 1800’s by Mikao Usui.
The Usui system of Reiki healing is a very simple yet powerful healing technique that is easily learnt, easily given and received by anyone. For a more detailed information on what is reiki please click here.
Reiki healing has beneficial effects on most physical and mental health conditions such as the following:
* Back pain
* Panic attacks
* High blood pressure
* Reduces side effects of modern medicine
* Heals emotional/mental pain due to breakdown of relationships
* Calms nerves before exams
* Calms nerves before driving tests
* Calms nerves before surgery
* Helps to relieve period pains
Reiki, as history explains, has its origin from Japan and means ‘Universal Life energy’. “Rei” means a subtle spiritual wisdom, responsible for the evolution of all kinds of lives, whereas “ki “means a non physical energy that flows through all living things, humans, animals and also plants. The measure of the Ki present within a self determines its energy level in a directly proportional way.
Effects of Reiki:
Reiki promises a positive effect on all forms of illness, that include minor headache or stomach aches, common colds, flu and anxiety, along with serious illness of the heart and cancer. Reiki Healing is quite a practised process and in this process the Reiki energy flows to the patient from the Reiki healing practitioners. The client remains fully clothed and the practitioner uses different hand positions around the head, shoulders, stomach and feet. However, depending on the amount of Reiki the client needs in a particular position, the Reiki healing process is carried on. It is one of the safest treatments and can be implemented even on children and pregnant women.
Reiki is energy healing and is done by hands. This allows energy to flow from the source, through the practitioner and into the recipient. This process will release any blockages or imbalances in the recipients body (at all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). As the chakras become balanced one can experience a state of well-being, wholeness and inner peace.
